We’re Melissa and Mark, a Pilates instructor and a chippy from Australia who never planned on starting a sponge business.

But while visiting the Greek Islands with family, we were introduced to something unexpected: the centuries-old tradition of sea sponge diving. Melissa was instantly hooked after trying one of the sponges gifted by extended family, traditional divers who harvest sponges by hand from the Aegean Sea.

Once back home in Australia, we searched everywhere to buy more... and came up empty. No natural sea sponges. No sustainable options. Just rows of synthetic plastic loofahs.

So we did what any sponge-obsessed couple would do, we dove deep. From late night research to conversations with our Greek family and partners, we discovered the science, sustainability, and centuries of heritage behind these natural treasures.
